For mice, as any other pet, it is important to know the best, easiest way to socialize them, as they will come into contact with people and other animals. Before you decide how to socialize your mouse you need to know why to socialize your new little friend.

Before your mouse encounters other living creatures, it is easiest if your new friend feels as safe as possible with you. This takes patience and handling your mouse in a comfortable way for him or her (if you are reading this you are definitely qualified and care).

Introduction of mice can be a challenge. It should be a controlled introduction. By controlled we mean consistent noise level and gentle handling (from the mouse perception). If your mouse will be introduced to a large group or class, it is best to make a slow introduction but also to make sure everyone in the group knows the most gentle way to handle the mouse. Although it may take more time initially, in the long run it is very beneficial.
Handle your mouse gently, and never sneak up on him or her, especially while sleeping. It is okay to tell people you want to be the only one to hold your mouse, just in case he or she gets scared and bites.
