Guinea pigs are happier indoors in room temperatures (65 – 69°F) Temperatures above 80°F can be dangerous for your guinea pigs as they are naturally from cooler mountain environments. If you have other pets that may harm your guinea pig, keep them in a separate area of room in your home. Your guinea pig’s house should be at least 1 cubic foot of space per pig. A solid floor should be used to prevent injury to feet and/or nails.
There is a variety of bedding material for your guinea pig, which can be found at most pet stores today. Change your guinea pigs bedding often to prevent bacterial overgrowth from urine and/or feces. This will keep him/her healthier.
