Ferret Proofing

Ferret proofing your home is an everyday job. It isn't something you do once and forget about.

It is very important to make sure you block off any way for your ferret to get under or behind any appliance (such as the refrigerator, the stove, and the dishwasher), piece of furniture, or vent.

Recliners are very dangerous to your ferret.

It is best to make the kitchen and the laundry room off-limits to your ferrets at all times.

You want to make sure that your ferrets can't get into/under any furniture with moving parts (e.g., sofa beds, recliners).

You want to make sure there are no holes that your ferret can get into (they can get into and out of any place).

It is important to make sure your ferret can't/doesn't make a hole to climb into in your box spring, mattress, or couch (these are places they can go unnoticed and get hurt).

It is important to make sure outlets are covered and electrical cords are inaccessible to your ferret (electrical burns can be very serious injuries).
