Ear Cleaning

Regular ear care is an important part of maintaining your ferret's health. It is very important that you keep your ferret's ears clean at all times.

Just like with cats and dogs, ferrets can get bacterial and yeast infections and ear mite infestations. If your ferret is scratching at its ears excessively or producing an excessive amount of wax, call us to schedule an appointment.

Ear mites can be very painful, and are more prone to develop in unclean ears.

Items to use to clean your ferret's ears include:

  • Oxyfresh ear cleaner
  • Totally Ferret ear swabs
  • Cotton swabs

You should try to clean your ferret's ears at least once every two weeks to try to prevent future problems.

It is the recommendation of Bradley Hills Animal Hospital that you have your ferret's ears checked once each year for ear mites.

Ear mites are treatable, but if they go untreated, they can be very painful for your ferret.
