Routine Tests for your dog

The Doctors at Bradley Hills Animal Hospital recommend routinely screening your pet for intestinal parasites and for contagious viral and bacterial diseases. If your pet shows any symptoms that cause you concern, the Doctor may recommend other laboratory tests.

  • Fecal examination – screens for common intestinal parasites, some of which may be transmitted to humans.
  • Heartworm, Lyme, and Ehrlichia test – screens for heartworm disease, which is a parasitic infection that can be fatal if not caught early, as well as two tick-borne diseases. This test will be run when we see your dog at the one-year check-up for the first set of adult vaccine boosters.
  • Giardia test – screens for a common intestinal parasite of dogs and cats that is intermittently shed in the feces and may not appear on a routine fecal examination.
